Beginning August 23^rd, Aerospace students will print using the university-wide Uniprint system. We expect this will help us monitor printer usage, minimize waste, and ultimately reduce printing costs. Information on using the system follows.

U Card

A student’s U Card is the basis of the Uniprint system. The U Card is the official dual-purpose card for the University of North Dakota that is an identification card and a debit card. All enrolled students, faculty, and staff are eligible to receive a card. This ID card provides access to library resource materials, entrance to athletic events and dining services. In addition, the U Card can be used as a debit card for purchases made on campus, including printing services through the Uniprint system.

UniPriNT

Uniprint software tracks, controls, charges for, and reports on network printing. It holds print jobs until their owners swipe their U Cards at the printer kiosk. This ensures that only authorized people can use university printers.

Each semester, $8.00 is automatically deposited to all student U Cards for the purpose of printing through the Uniprint System. This $8.00 comes from the Student Technology Fee which is assessed to each student.

• Black and White printouts cost $.04 per page.
• Color Laser printouts cost $.50 per page.

Students may add money to their cards at the U Card Office or by using the Valu-Port (UCash) machine, both located the lower lever of the Memorial Union. Valu-Port (UCash) stations are also located in Odegard, Wilkerson, Walsh, Memorial Union and Gamble Hall.

Printing from a Personal Computer

• Students now have the ability to print from their personal computers. Before you can print, you will need to install the software package for the specific printer you would like to use. These packages can be downloaded below.
• If you are using Windows 7, you may need to use the compatibility troubleshooter for this to install properly. When you click Print, the document will be sent to the Service Center or Print Center selected. When you go to the Service Center or Print Center to pick up your print job, you will need to provide your UCard and the name of the print job. Print jobs will be held for 24 hours, if not picked up in that time, they will be deleted.

Click on the Service Center or Print Center you would like to print to and then click the Install button.  After the installer completes, click Finish.

Printing

To print to the new printer, print a document as usual, selecting the new printer in the drop down menu.



Before you can print, you will have to name your print job.



When you click on Print, the document will be sent to the Service Center or Print Center that you have selected. When you go to pick up your print job, you will need to swipe your UCard and select the name of your print job.

Service Center Information

There is a Service Center in each residence hall complex. The Johnstone and Walsh Service Centers are open from 10 a.m. to midnight on weekdays, and Noon to Midnight on weekends. The Wilkerson Service Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
